About Joy
Joy Stromberg attended Taos UNM Integrative School for Medical Massage from 2011 to 2013, obtaining 750+ hours of training. Since 2014, Joy attended early classes in Craniosacral Therapy I + II, Muscle Energy Release Techniques I + II, Myofascial Yoga, Erik Dalton’s Myoskeletal Techniques from the Freedom from Pain Institute, Prenatal Massage Therapy, Tom Myers Anatomy Trains, and Intrinsic Muscles of the Pelvis with Peter Elhers and Ethics for Massage Therapists.
In addition to gathering techniques and theory, Joy also attended 3-day dissection class in Colorado Springs at the Institute for Anatomical Research. Here, she learned the importance of turning the scalpel horizontal to study the layers of connective tissue, Fascia, as it envelops every structure; carpet-backing the skin, layering between the adipose (fat), superficial fascial layer, wrapping the muscle and forming tendon, Deep fascial layer, wrapping the bone and forming the ligaments, which keep bones attached to each other (joints).
In 2020, during the worldwide COVID pandemic, Joy made the careful decision to attend the first Structural Integration cohort at UNM, Taos, NM. Here, she received her one-year, IASI-approved training in Ida P. Rolf’s Structural Integration. This lineage of work, in her words, filled in all the gaps of her previous training by providing the foundational pillars of Support, Holism, Adaptability, Integration, and Resonance. With Structural Integration, gravity becomes the therapist.
In 2022, Joy attended Physiotherapy training for the Male Pelvis and Ethics for Bodywork.
In 2024, Joy completed Advanced Training in Structural Integration for the Neurovascular System. This is a tremendous blessing for treating the arteries, veins, and nerves to live in health.
In 2025, Joy attends the Advanced Somatic Craniosacral Therapy training at the University of New Mexico. Unable to attend part of the course due to a seasonal flu, she will obtain the Continuing Education Hours and return in 2027 to retake the course in its entirety.
Joy passed the MBLEX Massage Board Exam in 2013 and submits to state requirements for continuing education every two years. Additionally, she plans to sit for the International Board of Structural Integration Exam in the coming year.
